Figuring It Out

When I'm cooking dinner at night, I've noticed that I tend to want to snack on something. So I've decided that I can usually make it from lunch to dinner, so the snack I was bringing to work to eat on my 7 o'clock break I'm going to start saving for when I get home, and that way I can have something to snack on while I'm cooking dinner. I tried it tonight and it worked! I was hungry when I got home but I wasn't absolutely starving, and I just snacked on my 100 cal pack while I cooked! Once I finish the 100 cal packs, I'll be snacking on big delicious looking red apples I bought. I also think it might have something to do with the fact that my body is just getting used to having a healthy amount to eat, as opposed to a constant supply of food coming in at all times. It's really nice to feel like I'm getting back in control of my body finally. I just hope this time it lasts, and I can keep control. I always end up losing it, but I don't know, maybe the 4th time will be the charm? I certainly hope so. Maybe with the treadmill, that'll make it easier because I'll get in the habit of working out every day. I hope that will be the case.

Speaking of working out, I noticed the other day that my upper arms look a little "super-sized." I'm 21, I shouldn't have big flabby arms! I don't want to end up like one of those people who loses a lot of weight but still has the big arms. I just think it detracts from the whole effect of the "new" body. So I need to look up some arm exercises I can do to try and get those toned up a bit. My mom has really toned arms, maybe I should ask her what she does. But I seriously need to do something about them.

Stress.

I am so stressed out. Scott and I really overextended ourselves this month, and now we're just struggling to get to our paychecks next week without running out of money. Amazingly, though, I haven't had the urge for any emotional eating! Now if I could just get that treadmill up and running...

Yummy!

Today I decided to make a smoothie out of a chocolate Slim-Fast, a banana, and some ice, and it's DELICIOUS! And it's only 6 points! That blender we got as a wedding gift is finally coming in handy, and it's great!

P.O.M. noticed my "crazy schedule" yesterday, which I thought was really funny because I just never really thought about it, but I guess I really am a "late bird!" It's because I work 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, so I usually come home and eat dinner after work, and I try to go to bed by 2:00 am and be up by 10:00 am. That's why my posts are always kind of late at night. You think that's bad? The husband goes in at 5:30 pm, and doesn't get off until 3:30 am. He has 3 days a week off, but still, his schedule is brutal. I'm happy though because I'm off today and tomorrow, so I get to relax. Except for the fact that we have to clean the old apartment either today or tomorrow, but that won't be so bad.

On a happier note, my treadmill is finally ready! As soon as Scott wakes up, we'll go pick it up, and then I'll finally get to put my exercise/guest room together! That'll be a pain but it shouldn't take too long, and I'll finally be able to get started on exercising! I know I said I might not start until my 3rd week, but you never know, actually having the treadmill in the house might just give me the push to start right away. I'm always paranoid that working out is going to make me not lose any weight, but I plan on trying to stay within my target heart rate for fat burning, and hopefully that will actually work.

I'm Thankful For Veggie Pizza!

I seriously love my veggie pizzas. They are soooo good. And I'm thinking of other pizza recipes I can make with those wraps. Can't wait! I also have other stuff I want to try making though, like whole grain pasta with my special Alfredo sauce that I wrote about so long ago... still haven't tried it... I want to make a chicken fajita wrap.... I just really want to cook more! I never used to cook, I would watch the Food Network and I'd love all the food I'd see but I'd always be too scared to try anything.. but ever since I made that turkey, and it was so easy, I just feel like I can probably cook anything that I try! And that's a really good feeling. Especially ever since this one night I went over to a friend's house for dinner, and I was looking through one of her cookbooks (Nigella Lawson: How to Be a Domestic Goddess), and she said, "Why are you even looking at that? It's not like you're ever going to make anything," and I said, "I might!" and she said, "No, you won't." It really just kind of hurt my feelings, because I wish that she could have been a little more encouraging instead of just being like, yeah, you can't do it. So, that's why I decided to do the turkey, because I wanted to prove her wrong. And now, I feel like I can do anything, as long as it's not incredibly complicated! I can't wait to try new things!

Does anybody have any other healthy recipe ideas for me to try?

Getting Used To It...

Like I said, this whole thing is really taking some getting used to. As soon as I got home from work tonight, the first thing I thought about was eating some chips. Bad!! And I have to confess, I did eat probably about 5 of Scott's sour cream and onion chips.... But that's all! I was good all day other than that. Go me.

I decided I'm going to get on the scale every day, just so I can keep track of any trends in my progress. I know a lot of people believe you shouldn't weigh in more than once a week, but on Jessica's page she talks about how it's good to because it lets you see patterns in your body's immediate responses to food, and water retention. My only official weigh in's will be the ones on Sunday, but I'm still going to write down my daily weights in my food journal. Today I was already down a whole pound, to 189! Of course it can be expected that I'll lose quickly these first couple of weeks, but it was still exciting to see!

On the treadmill front, I still haven't gotten it. I just hope it's ready by Thursday, because that way I'll be off so we can go pick it up. Wednesday or Thursday, but Thursday at the latest. I probably won't start using it until the third week (December 9), just so I can give my body a head start on the weight loss. Plus, that's what Weight Watchers recommends in their materials, so that's what I'll go ahead and do.

Regarding Weight Watchers, I'm sure anyone who looked at my food list yesterday noticed that I didn't eat the 26 points that WW recommends for me, but I've decided not to follow their recommendations, because it's always so hard to adjust every time my points go down. So I decided to try to lose weight by just watching what I eat, not really sticking to a points target but still keeping track of my points. That way, I'm not so restricted in my eating habits, and if I decided I wanted to eat a 7 point dinner, or have a 1 point snack, I won't have to worry about being over or under my points, and I won't be scrambling around at night because I have "1 more point!" I think this will work better for me, so wish me luck! Besides, this is my 4TH TIME doing the whole Weight Watchers thing. I think I have the program down.
